Tutu Puoane grew up in South Africa, jazz was an integral part of her life from an early age: ” There were many jazz enthusiasts in my family, both my mother and my brothers were or are great lovers and collectors of this music. ” If the singer with the magical and wonderfully earthy timbre, now working with the WDR Big Band and the renowned American arranger John Clayton , is a childhood dream come true. In addition to songs from their South African homeland, the program also includes standards of American jazz.
The new ” Pure Sounds ” series loosens the classic “border” between audience and podium. The proximity to the band creates a whole new atmosphere, the audience is involved in the concert much more than before and not only experience the music, but also the musicians much more intensely. Pure music enjoyment – not only the external conditions ensure this, but also the guests of the evening.
