JAZZNOJAZZ 18: <br> Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra feat. Cécile McLorin Salvant / Woodoism

THE MUSIC WE LOVE – For connoisseurs, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, founded in 1985 by the brothers John and Jeff Clayton and Jeff Hamilton, is simply the best jazz big band of the present day. Meriten earned her as a backing band of stars like Barbra Streisand, Diana Krall and Charles Aznavour. But the band is strongest when it can do its own thing, true to the Duke Ellington motto, “It’s Not Mean a Thing If It’s Not Got that Swing.” As a guest vocalist (and this is what makes the JAZZNOJAZZ concert an event): Cécile McLorin Salvant, the most prominent jazz singer of the younger generation.
The concert is opened by Florian Weiss’ Woodoism, who won the ZKB Jazzpreises 2018 thanks to their strong stage presence and imaginative compostions. We are curious!
